AXES OF THE NORTH WAY

This section focuses on the axe along the ancient Nordvegr/North Way, modern Norway; from the introduction of bronze through the Viking Age. All types of axes through these 3000 years were potential weapons, many types were dedicated battle axes. On the other hand - it is difficult to safely sort out any as for crafting only. The heavy axe head with its sharp edge were always a lethal tool.
All axe heads are based on actual archaeological findings. They have been carefully chosen for typological representativity. Bronze axes have an edge treatment of several cycles of annealing and hammering. Iron axes have high carbon steel edges on mild steel bodies. Axes can also be delivered hafted.
